Major Programs Undertaken   

Relief & Assistance Work in 2013 Kedarnath Disaster in Rudraprayag District of Uttarakhand

The Organization not only volunteered for the victims of outside state and their relatives in Rishikesh camps organized by Red Cross Society by helping them to reach their destination, searching for the lost, facilitating medical aid etc. but also actively participated in all disaster relief work in Rudraprayag district itself, helped in collecting data of survivors, death people, partially and completely affected people. Members of the society volunteered for organization like Reliance Foundation, Gramin Sudhar avam Shramik Sanstha (GRASS) Rudraprayag, Mandakini ki Awaaz, Aman Trust, Army aid, IGNOU- DBS PG college Dehradun etc in the work of distribution of disaster relief material, solar lanterns and also helped in rehabilitation process.

MPEDA Programs

The “Marine Product Export Development Authority” under the aegis of Ministry of Commerce and Industry with the help of Empower Society conducted a series of ‘Awareness Programmes’ on the “Ornamental Fish Sector” throughout the potential districts of Haridwar & Dehradun in Uttarakhand. These programmes are intended to create awareness among the farmers,unemployed youths and upcoming entrepreneurs about the prospects of ornamental fish sector.

Beggar Kids school in Dehradun District

The Society also contributed towards running a Beggar Kids school in Dehradun District whose parents were earlier snake charmer but at present has no livelihood alternative after the activity was banned. Members of Society not only volunteered in teaching from time to time but also conducted few camps on child rights, health and sanitation issues etc. IEC and Educational material such as charts, books, literature, games etc were distributed among 50 such childrens.

Health & Education/Sanitation

Health and Education/Sanitation camps are being run in the Urban Slums, Minority/ ST areas and Rural areas.

Voluntary Programs & Contributory Program

The Organization has carried out sensitization and awareness programs on issues like Gender Role & Equity, Watershed Management, Natural Resource Management, Value addition, Skill Development, Evolution of master trainers from community, Child rights and women empowerment in other partner NGOs. Members of the organization has contributed towards creation of platform for raising various advocacy issues and participated in Community Outreach Program.

Livelihood Programs and Vocational Training

The organization has carried out training programs for scheduled caste, scheduled tribes and minority group beneficiaries belonging to the poorest of the poor and vulnerable category. These training comprised of Tailoring, Embroidery, Patchwork, Zardozi work, Fruit Processing, Carpet weaving, Beautician and Bamboo and Fiber Value addition work. The trainings were imparted in district Dehradun, Tehri , Chamoli and Rudraprayag. Other such programs are being conceived and implemented.

Social Engineering and Capacity Building Team

The organization has a pool of master trainers and Catalyzers/ Mobilizers comprising of various Subject matter specialist and Community level master trainers working towards building up the capacity of the rural community and also addresses issues or serves as per requirement of other segment of the society.

Disaster Management Work

The organization in partnership with GRASS NGO has visited the sites hit by cloud burst calamity and tried to help the community.

Annual General Meeting of 2020-21 was held on 11th Jan, 2021.
COVID response work undertaken during COV-1.0 & 2.0(COVID preparedness emergency services, distribution of COVID Kits, Vocational and Livlihood support for COV survivors and migrants ).
National Training provider partner for PMKVY and Bamboo basket making TC skill partner for UKSDM.
Unsung is the registered trade mark / brand for the livelihood products
Joint initiative for promoting COBU dairy brand in colabration with business house KINIKH.
'Ace of Initiative Award' and 'Star Performer Award' extended towards achievers and work of excellence for the third consecutive year.
The members have organized a cluster of more than 2655 Bamboo, ringal and natural fibers weavers and around 550 traditional handloom workers.
Three exchange workshops organised between artisans of north east India, Uttarakhand, Himanchal, Nepal, Bhutan and Myanmar
Sensitization Program on Water, Health, Sanitation, Alternative energy, Fodder Management, ITK and Indiginious tribe / revival of Dying art etc in all districts of Uttarakhand.
